Play Ball

Play Ball — Americana Delft Icon Tile

A tribute to America’s favorite pastime.

Our Play Ball icon tile features a classic baseball bat resting inside a well-worn glove, painted in loose cobalt watercolor-like brushstrokes on an ivory ceramic tile. The simple scene captures the timeless ritual of stepping onto the field, from neighborhood sandlots and little league diamonds to big-league ballparks under summer lights.

For generations, baseball has been woven into the fabric of American life. Long evenings at the ball field, the crack of a bat, and the quiet rhythm of the game have shaped countless summer memories across towns and cities throughout the country.

Part of our Americana Delft collection, this tile reimagines the historic Delft tradition of illustrating everyday life through small painted scenes. Where traditional Delft tiles once captured village games and daily activities, Play Ball celebrates a sport that has become one of America’s most enduring traditions.

Designers often scatter icon tiles like this throughout a backsplash or feature wall to create a collected, storytelling installation. Paired with our matching Americana Delft plain field tile, Play Ball adds a playful moment of Americana within a field of ivory tile.
