You know the tiles. You know the colors, the textures, the way they feel in a space. But do you know who made them?

At Red Rock Tileworks, we're a small team in Nashville doing something that looks simple but absolutely isn't. We throw thousands of tiles into kilns, glaze them, fire them, pack them. Repeat. But here's the thing—our people aren't just executing a process. They're caring about it.

What We're Really Looking For

If you've ever wondered who we hire, or if you're curious about what it takes to work here, here's the honest answer: we're looking for people who care.

Not the precious, romantic kind of care you see in art studio Instagram posts. Real care. The kind that shows up at five AM because the work matters. The kind that notices when something's slightly off with a glaze and figures out why. The kind that takes pride in the hundredth tile the same way they took pride in the first.

We've learned that this kind of care doesn't come from a particular background or resume. It comes from who people are right now—their willingness to learn, their attitude, their commitment to doing something well.

Quantity Meets Quality

Here's where a lot of people get it wrong: they think manufacturing and craftsmanship are opposites. Push a button, make a thousand identical things, move on. But that's not how it works at Red Rock.

Making thousands of tiles requires the same obsession with detail that making one tile does. The difference is you're doing it over and over, consistently, under real conditions—weather that affects drying, kilns that have personalities, clay that surprises you. Our best people? They understand that quantity and quality aren't enemies. They're the same skill applied at scale.

People with manufacturing experience often get this instinctively. But we've also found incredible people who came from other walks of life and were just willing to learn that mindset.

The Reality (And Why It Matters)

Let's be direct: working in a ceramic factory isn't glamorous. It's hot in the summer. Dusty year-round. You're on your feet. The environment is raw and demanding.

But here's what makes it work: we start at five AM in the summer and finish by one thirty. That's safety—the shop is cooler in the morning, which means better work and fewer heat-related risks. It also means you get your afternoons back. Doctor's appointments, time with family, life—it happens after work. But you have to be a morning person. Non-negotiable.

The people who thrive here aren't looking for easy. They're looking for purposeful. They want to be part of something they believe in, even if—especially if—it's demanding.

Different Paths, Same Destination

Our team is a mixed bag. Different personalities, different backgrounds, different superpowers. Honestly, half of them probably wouldn't be in the same room together if it weren't for Red Rock.

We've hired artists who discovered they love working in a workshop as part of a team. We've hired people rebuilding their lives after tough chapters—jail, addiction, whatever—because we believe in second chances and we've seen that commitment and gratitude translate into incredible work ethic. We've hired people with manufacturing backgrounds who wanted to do it with soul.

What they all have in common isn't where they came from. It's that they care about the work and the people around them.

Who's Making Your Tile

Next time you install Red Rock tiles, think about the hands that made them. Think about someone who showed up early, learned the quirks of the clay, figured out why a glaze behaved differently in humid weather, took pride in consistency, and genuinely wanted to do it right.

That's who we are. That's why our tiles cost what they do. That's why they matter.

If you're a designer or architect specifying our work, you're not just buying a product. You're buying the care of people who actually give a damn.

And if you're someone reading this thinking, "That sounds like a place I'd want to work," we're always interested in people who get it. Reach out. Tell us about yourself.

We're looking for people who care. Everything else we can teach.
